alkali glutinous rice dumpling which is made by wrapping the rice in broad leaves of reeds and boiled for a few hours; sort of confection made of glutinous rice mixed with a little alkali and wrapped with bamboo leaves. This is offered to spirits or devils on the fifth day of the fifth month and the Buddhist All Soul's Day (fifteenth of the seventh month)
